| Pednizon
and 6-Mercaptopurine
These medicines are steroids. They go straight to the inflamed area and fix it. They work really well, but just like a lot of things they come with a price. Prednizon for instance is a medicine that goes mainly to the small and large intestines. It has one major side effect though. You swell up like a balloon. 6-mercaptopurine, or 6-mp, helps mainly the esophagus area. This ,luckily, has no major side effects like the prednizon. |

| Colonoscopy
and Endoscopy
These are tests that let the doctors go in and see right in the intestines. There is a long, thin tube that has a camera at the end. The tube is then put down the patients throat or up the butt. An endoscopy is down the throat, and a colonoscopy is up the back end. You are put to sleep during this procedure. When the tube is in, it takes video and pictures of places in the intestine and the doctors watch what the camera sees on a television screen. |
