There are
many things that factor into the health of your Aussie. One of the most
important aspects is feeding and nutrition. All dogs and Aussies need
proper nutrients that their bodies cannot produce themselves.
Proteins- dogs should have proteins in their food. Usually it comes from meats, cooked grains, dairy products, and legumes. Carbohydrates- Carbohydrates will give your Aussie the energy he needs to go all day. Fats- Fats are very important for energy storage. They also help absorb vitamins. Vitamins- Vitamins are very important for the growth and maintenance of life. Minerals- Minerals also serve the same purpose as vitamins. Water- It's a fact. Nothing can live without water. Give your Aussie an endless supply. Change it often.

All different dog foods can meet your dogs various needs. Usually you should look at the ingredients. Try to look for a food without corn and rice in it's place. Some Aussies are allergic to corn, and corn is a filler. It doesn't really have any nutritional value. Make sure you set times to feed your dog. Adults need fed around two times a day ( about two cups). Puppies need fed three times a day (about a cup and a half). Add plain yogurt to your puppy 's food.

When you groom your dog you may want to have some supplies such as a pin brush, shedding blade and or a slicker brush. Brush your dog daily. To begin your grooming routine pet your dog all to check for lumps, and or knots. Then brush your dog with the pin brush. Next go over with the shedding blade. Finally finish with the slicker brush.

Bathe your Aussie either indoors when it's cold or outdoors when it's warm. Always use warm the water and be sure to keep water out of his ears. Use a mild soap. Make sure to scrub everywhere. Rinse well. If you don't wash your Aussie well enough his skin may become itchy and a rash may form.

Check your dog's ears for foreign objects or buildup. If your dogs ears are slightly dirty take a cotton ball and dab it in witch hazel. Then gently swab the outside. Nails should be short and not click on the ground. Use good doggy nail clippers to get the job done. If you cut it too short dab the paw in some styptic powder.

The health of your Aussie is very important. If anything seems very abnormal take him to a good vet. Know your dog's behavior and how he feels normally. In many cases owners have been able to save their Aussies from death by catching cancer early.
