Tiger Woods was born on December 03, 1975, in Cypress, California. When he was very young his parents introduced him to the game of golf. (It was practically as soon as he was able to stand on his own.) His dad gave him a sawed-off putter to practice with.
Of course, he picked up the game rather quickly for his age. Tiger was shooting in the high 40’s for nine holes before his third birthday! That is what most teenagers shoot on average which is incredible for a two year old. When Tiger was eight, he won his first out of six Optimist Junior world titles. He played in his first professional tournament in 1992 at age 16.

It was the Nissan Los Angeles Open. That was just after his amateur career which was outstanding. He won the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in 1991, 1992, and 1993. He also won the U.S. Amateur title in 1994, 1995, and 1996.Also, when he attended Stanford University, he won the NCAA title. Tiger turned pro in the summer of 1996. In 1997, he became the youngest person ever to win the Masters Tournament. He was also the first person of African or Asian decent to win a major professional golf tournament.

On June 15, 1997, he became the world’s number one golfer after only playing in the PGA tour for only 24 weeks. In 1999, Tiger won eight tournaments in the PGA Tour. That year he won 52% of all the prize money that he could have possibly won. In 2000, Woods became the second person (after Ben Hogan) to win three major tournaments in one year.

Tiger’s golf career only got better after that until he hit a drought that lasted 2003-2004. He was still ranked number one until Vijay Singh took that spot form him in the middle of his drought. Tiger regained his number one ranking again in 2005 as of now after winning the Buick Invitational.
