Cornell Haynes Jr., known as Nelly.  His hometown was St. Louis Missouri.
Nelly was born November2, 1978.
When Nelly was about eight, his parents had gotten a divorce.
He had lived with his father for about a year.  His father kept him until he couldn't afford to keep him.  So then he lived with his mother and her boyfriend in University City.  He said that he had stayed with them but it didn't work out for him.  So he was always living with different people but mostly his friends and grandparents.
While he was a kid he moved to about eight different schools, so he would always be the new kid.  Nelly would get into fights alot, but when he went to the high in University City, he got interested in baseball.  By him staying in sports like baseball, they kept him out of trouble.  He even liked to do storytelling and writing rhymes.  When he was ten he wrote a song called "im fresh."  He went back to the drawing board on it because he thought it was bad.
A little after he started high school, he formed a rap group called the St. lunatics.  He had formed the group with his high school pals; Big lee, Kyjuam, Murphy Lee, and city spud.  In 1996, they scored a regional hit with the self-produced single called Gimmie what you got, The group got frustrated with the failing to get a record deal.  So what they did was, they decided that Nelly had a better chance in getting a record deal being a solo artist.
Everything paid off, when Nelly caught the attention of a record company called Universal.  Universal released his album, country grammar in 2000.  The album stayed on the top of the US album charts for seven weeks.  Nelly's goal was to put St. Louis and the St.lunitics on the hip-hop map.  He had said that even though he was a soloist, he would always be part of the St.lunitics.  In 2001, the St.lunitics came out with their album called Free City.  It features the hit Midwest swing.
The following summer Nelly made his second album called nellyville.  The album hit the top of ten billboard charts.  While this happened the Neptune's, produced the lead single Hot in here.  Few rap artists could get that many numbers.
A little after, he came out again with another song called Iz u (from his stopgap dirty versions remix album.)  at the same time he made a song with Murphy lee and p. diddy called shake ya tail feather (from the Bad boys two the soundtrack)  this kept him in the spotlight while he started to work up on two-disc sweat-suit project.  The double album dropped in the fall of 2004.  When the CD's had came out, a few of the singles became popular already;  my place which was a slow jam.  And the other hit was called flap your wings, which was a club jam.

Nelly had a million dollars worth of stuff stolen from his room at Aladdin hotel, in Las Vegas in 2003.
