This may look like a miniature collie to you. But it's not this is a Shetland sheepdog (also known as a sheltie). This intelligent dog is easy to train. It likes people and is devoted to families so it is definitely an indoor dog. Although a sheltie barks a lot they are very sensitive so when you correct them don’t make it to harsh. The sheltie is about 13-16 inches tall and 20-25 lbs. Their long coat sheds frequently so it would need brushed often. The life expectancy of a sheltie is 12-15 years.

The old English sheepdog is a strong, well balanced dog. They are thick set and muscular, but very intelligent. The old English stands 22 inches high and weighs 70-100 lbs. They have a shaggy grayish and white coat,  and they have a loud demanding bark.

The Australian shepherd  is a medium built dog that is 18-23 inches tall and about 49-70 lbs.  This dog has a distinct colorful coat. Their coat can be black red, blue merle, red merle, copper, and white. All Australian shepherds have their tails docked naturally or bobbed. An Australian shepherd is an intelligent dog that is eager to learn. They are alert, active,  and tough. Also they are very loyal and bond very closely with their families. Australian shepherds are sometimes shy to strangers but great with children and other dogs.

German shepherds are relatively large dogs. They stand at about 22-26 inches and weighing in at 60-90 lbs. They are intelligent loyal dogs especially to their owners and are natural guard dogs. These dogs are energetic and serve for a variety of purposes such as police dogs. German shepherds also come in a variety of colors, they can be solid black, solid white, or even a mix of the two with some tan.

A border collie is not a dog that is known for being a good pet. The border collie is a working dog that loves what it does and is named one of the top sheepdogs herding breed world wide. The border collie is intelligent and loves to play but likes to spend most of its time herding animals. A border collie has long black and white fur but sometimes you may see a red one or one with tan highlights. Border collies are medium-sized dogs at about 20-22 inches tall and is about 35-55 lbs.
