When trying out many judges watch many of the same details. In this section you will learn what you are graded on

Most judges grade on a scale of 1-10

1 being poor,

2 being fair,

 3 being good,

4 being excellent

You will be graded in 9 categories including, but not limited to, spirit, personality, cheer motions, timing and rhythm, appearance, vocal projection, and overall performance

Personality- how well does the cheerleader maintain eye contact?  Does the cheerleader look and sound sincere?  Does the cheerleader make a connection with the audience?

Spirit- Does the cheerleader demonstrate enthusiasm?  Is the cheerleader able to motivate the crowd?

Cheer motions- Are the cheerleaders hand, arm, and leg motions crisp and strong?  Do the motions have good placement?

Timing and Rhythm- Are the cheerleaders movements balances and flowing? Does the cheerleaders movement appear smooth and natural?

Appearance- Does the cheerleader appear neat and well groomed? Is the cheerleaders outfit neat?

Vocal Projection- Is the cheerleaders voice projecting loud and clear?  Without sounding strained or un natural?

Jumps- Is the cheerleader achieving good jump height?  Is the cheerleader able to perform a variety of jumps?

Stunts- Are the cheerleaders stunts performed properly?  Are the cheerleaders’ movements crisp and natural instead of forced and awkward?

Overall Performance- How is the cheerleader’s general athletic ability?  How is the cheerleaders’ overall technique?

Tips- Judges love to see a smile.  Motions should be perfect. I would recommend practicing in a mirror to get your motions as good as they can be, same with jumps.  Judges also consider enthusiasm critically!  And, the biggest thing judges look out for.. a Smile!
