A good way to think of stunting is to break stunts into 2 broad categories. There are partner stunts, and mounts (or pyramids)
| Positions: | Flyer
base back spot front spot |
|
The flyer is the person who is lifted. The base is the bottom person in a stunt. The back and front spots ensure that if something went wrong, the flyer wouldn't hit the ground.
Never try stunting un-supervised. Stunting has many dangers.
Many stunts have been banned by High Schools and the dive roll- a stunt when the cheerleader is airborne before rolling has been demanded illegal by the National cheerleading association and National Federation of State High School nations.
Cheerleadins and Stunting leads to more serious injury than gymnastics and track. National injury estimates show that compared to other athletic activities, cheerleading has one of the lowest emergency room visits.
The lesson is clear, when stunting, be sure to use Spotters and have adult supervision. Also cheer safely and responsibly
Tips.
*-Keep your head up and look confident
*-Aggree on a word such as sweep, that way if the flyer needs an amergency dismount the bases and spotters will be ready
*-Tie your hair, cut your nails and wear snug clothing.
*-Remain focused
