The
Steelers closed out Three Rivers Stadium in 2000. In 2001, they moved to
Heinz Field. The first exhibition game at Heinz Field was on August 25,
2001. The first real game was on October 7, 2001.
The owner of the new stadium is The Sports and Exhibition Authority
of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. The developer of the stadium is the
Pittsburgh Steelers. The stadium holds several sporting events such as
Pittsburgh Steeler football, University of Pittsburgh football, and
Western Pennsylvania High School Championships. It also holds several
weddings and concerts.

The
seating capacity is 64,350 regular seats. There are also 6,600 club seats.
There are 129 suites with 1,500 seats. There are many great features at
Heinz Field. Some of those features are the open end zone. The open end
zone offers a nice view of Point State Park and Downtown Pittsburgh. |

feature of this great stadium is the Coca-Cola Great Hall. This offers a
nice look on the rich history. It has the four Super Bowl trophies. It
also profiles on the Steeler Hall of Fame. It would be a great thing to
see before and after the game. |

Another
feature is the huge scoreboard. It offers an unbelievable picture no
matter where you are the stadium. The scoreboard is 27 feet tall. It is
also 96 feet wide. It is 3 times the size of the scoreboard
at Three Rivers. |

At
Heinz Field there are 50 restrooms- 25 women and 25 men. There are also 32
concession stands where they sell everything from candy to crab cakes.
The Steelers all time record at Heinz Field going into 2004 is
27-14-1. They finished the 2001 season with a 7-1 mark at home. They
finished the 2002 season with a 5-2-1 mark at home. In 2003 they finished
with a 3-5 record at Heinz Field. The Steelers are 2-1 in post-season games
at Heinz Field.
