Grunts are the lowliest beings of the covenant hierarchy. Lacking armor and shield technology they are very vulnerable to all attacks. Though dangerous when in groups, a shot to the head or melee attack should slay them. There are different ranks of Grunts: yellow (minor), red (major), green (gunner), and black (special-ops).

Jackals will often
carry a portable energy shield. The energy shield will deflect most fire
but will diminish after several shots. The Jackals carry mainly 2 weapons:
the beam rifle (Jackals wielding this will not have an energy shield) or a
plasma pistol. |

Elites are subservient to the prophets. The Elites can wield many weapons. With their quick reflexes and amazing strength the Elites are superior to any human. With their strong armor and quick recharging shields it would not be incorrect to compare them to the Spartan-II super-soldiers of which, Master Chief is the only known survivor.

Drones are fast airborne marksmen that are very hard to hit. With their hard shells they can also take some damage. Also with their flying ability there is little cover for you. Drones are extremely hard to fight when in groups.

Hunters are heavily armored superior Covenant beings. Hunters will almost always work in pairs. Hunters become extremely enraged when their partner is slain charging at the force responsible even attacking some of the other Covenant. Hunters wear almost impenetrable armor, which has a fuel rod cannon, incorporated with it. The cannon can even cause trouble for a Scorpion Tank.

Brutes posses enormous strength, powerful weapons (which differ from standard Covenant armaments), and great stamina. Notable for their raw aggression, strength, and cruelty these beasts do not wield technology, because they do not need it.

Prophets are the cofounders of the Covenant and appear to exert complete control over religious and political affairs. There is very little known about this mysterious race. |
