-Area-

To play volleyball you should have an area set up. You area should be 60 feet long and 30 feet wide. The net should be right in the middle of the court. And there should be no obstructions in the way of the court that could interfere with the play.

-Net-

The net in volleyball is held up by 2 poles. The net is directly above the center line on the court. It is 6feet 4 1/2 inches from the ground in women's volleyball and 8 feet in men's. If a ball hits the net in volleyball it is still playable.

-The Ball-

The volleyball is a white, leather ball that is about 9 ounces. It should have 5-6 pounds of pressure when inflated. The ball is between 25 and 17 inches in diameter.

-Comfortable Clothes-

To play any sport you need comfortable clothes. For volleyball practices you can just wear t-shirts and shorts. But when you play games there are usually uniforms. Girls usually wear spandex shorts and a shirt. While guys usually wears swishy pants and a shirt.

-Footwear-

To play volleyball you should have comfortable shoes. Usually you should have a different pair of shoes on court than you do outside. They should be tennis shoes that lace. You should also wear socks so your feet don't blister.

-Knee Pads-

Knee pads are a good thing to have when playing indoor volleyball but they are not a necessity. They comfort and protect your knee from injury. If you play indoor volleyball competitively I would recommend having them just to be safe.
