Many actors in the world will tell you that they grew up dreaming of performing. For Mary-Kate and Ashley this dream started at 4 months old. Before they were 1 they were already the stars of a popular TV series. By 1st grade, the Olsens were the most popular child performers since Shirley Temple. Mary-Kate and Ashley were born on June 13th,1986. Their parents are David and Jarnie Olsen. The girls are fraternal twins, regular siblings that just happen to be born at the same time. The twins' career started when Jarnie went shopping with a friend, a woman whose child was pursuing an acting career. On the way home, the woman needed to stop by the office of the kid's agent. When Jarnie mentioned that she had twin daughters, the agent asked to see pictures of the girls. Right away he wanted them to audition for a series about a widowed dad raising his three young daughters. One of the girls was a toddler. Because of laws limiting the number of hours that kids can work, producers often look for twins to share the job so each one only has half the work. Jarnie decided to go to the audition not expecting anything but it seemed like fun. There were tons of kids at the audition and it was loud and chaotic. The series was called "Full House" and Bob Saget was already lined up to play the role of the dad. MaryKate and Ashley were auditioning for the role of Michelle, the baby of the family. Surprisingly the girls were hired on the spot. The producers said that the girls were" unique" and that they had big, expressive eyes and listened when they were spoken to. By the end of its first season, "Full House" was the most popular comedy on television. Mary Kate and Ashley literally grew up on TV from taking their first steps, to 1st learning to ride a bike. For these girls, their career was just beginning! |
