Plus One was formed in 1999. Plus one was made to be a evangelistically answer to 'NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys. The members are Gabe Combs, Nate Cole, Jeremy Mhire, Jason Perry, and Nathan Walters. All of the young men in their group were in their late teens or early twenties. Three of them were preacher kids. Their manager, Mitchell Solarek, sent out an open audition call to all Christian youth ministry channels. At first they were going to be called Blue. Then, they settled on the name Plus One. Their producer is David Foster, who is a Multi-Grammy-Winning producer. While they were making their albums they lived together in San Francisco and later in Los Angeles. Plus One's first CD was the Promise, and it was released in early 2000 on Foster's 143 Records label. The Promise's lyrics were much different from regular boy-bands. Instead of sexiness there was family-oriented messages about faith and friends. Two hits were Written on My Heart and God is in This Place. In fall 2000 they toured with Jaci Velasquez. Their second CD was Obvious, and it appeared in 2002. Plus One is a great group, that sounds good and has clean lyrics.
