Carly Patterson was a six year old who had big dreams of becoming an olympic gymnast. In 1993, she started gymnastics at WOGA (World Olympic Gymnastics Academy.) Years later, she tried out for the U.S. olympic team and was accepted. But in 2003, she had to get surgery on her elbow. She became unable to do gymnastics for the rest of the year, In 2004, she left for Athens after months of training at the academy. While there, the U.S. team won the Silver Medal with the Romanian team receiving the Gold. Finally her dreams and hard work paid off, she had won the Gold at the Woman's All-around Competition. Now, back from Athens, she trains thirty hours a week training at the academy.
