Rules

Regulation playing time for college lacrosse is sixty minutes. It is divided into four fifteen-minute periods. Two officials and sometimes a third control the game. They always have the final call. The beginning of each period is started off with a face-off. A face-off also happens after each goal. The offside rule is that three attack players must stay on the attacking side of the field. Four defensive players must stay on the defensive side of the field. When the ball goes out of bounds on the two sides of the field, it is the other team's ball. When the ball goes out behind the goal, the ball is given to the player who is closest to the ball. A substitution may be made at any time, as long as the player is standing at the midfield. Stick checking is legal, but only in the hands or stick of the opponent. A player may also check, but their hands must be together on the stick.

Fouls

There are two types of fouls. There are personal fouls and technical fouls. Technical fouls will put someone in the penalty box for thirty seconds, and cause them lose their team the ball. Personal fouls will put someone in the penalty box for one to three minutes. Some technical fouls are interference, holding, pushing, illegal action with the stick, illegal procedure, withholding ball from play, and offsides. Some personal fouls are unsportsman like conduct, cross checking, tripping, slashing, and illegal body checking.
