One thing dogs are good for is helping the blind. They start their preparation when they are just puppies, when they are 8 weeks old they go to a foster home where they will grow up and learn some of the basic commands. Then when they are 2 years old they go back the agency that had them when they were puppies. After their through with the training their they get acquainted to their new owner so that they can help them get around and go on with their life.

The second thing dogs do is entertain us, and they do it in many different ways. One way is by running in races. Greyhounds and Whippets are very popular in this event. This is because of their long slender bodies . They have been the top racing dogs for many years.

Another thing dogs do for us is by working side by side with us in some of our jobs. One of those jobs is being a firefighter. Dalmatians were breed to help the firefighters travel on the back of their trucks.  

Farmers need help from the dogs to you know. On the farm they are commonly used to herd animals such as cows, pigs, and sheep back into their pens. This save the farmers a lot of time than by doing it all by themselves.

Another way dogs entertain us is by sled racing. For a sled race you have to have a dog that is good in the snow and can tolerate the cold. Siberian Husky's, Alaskan Malamutes, Great Pyrenees, Eskimo Dogs, and Greenland's are all good for this.
