The English Setter's country of origin is England.  They are in the sporting group and are divided into two varieties: field and show. Field dogs are bred with high energy and an over appearance.  Show dogs are bred to maintain proper structure, coat, and temperament.
English setters live about twelve to fourteen years.  Their coat is medium, flat or wavy, silky, and feathered.  Their color varies: white with intermingled darker hair, orange and blue tint can be intertwined as well as brown and tan.
Height varies from male to female. Males are about twenty-five inches tall.  Females are about twenty-four inches tall.  Both male and female English Setters weight varies.
English Setters are great with children, other dogs, and pets in general.  It has a mild, happy disposition making it a great family dog.
English Setters are great athletes, however hip dysphasia, elbow dysphasia, deafness, and hypothyroidism are major health problems in this breed.  To keep your setter safe and happy, keep it inside with the family, but give it lots of outdoor exercise.
Brush and comb it twice a week and bathe and trim it monthly.  With proper care, you can prevent the above illnesses.
