Number one : Emmitt Smith with 17,162. Number two : Walter Payton with 16,726. Number three : Barry Sanders with 15,269. Number four : Eric Dickerson with 13,259. Number five : Tony Dorsett with 12,739. Emmitt Smith played most of his carrer with the Dallas Cowboys but got traded in his later days to the Arizona Cardinals.
