Baseball consists of nine positions that play a major part in each game. The Position that produces some of the great power hitters and fielders in the American Pastime is the outfield. The outfield consists of three positions at the farthest outer parts of the field. There is the left field position which is on the left side of the outfield, the right field position, which is on the right side, and center field, which is in the center. | ||
| Third Base is another position on the diamond field we play baseball on. It is on the left hand side of the infield. It is also straight up the left baseline from home plate. It is a position of power hitters and average hitters. | ![]() |

Second Base is a speed position in which you have to be very fast to play it. The second basemen cover the area from first base to second base. Second basemen usually aren't power hitters but are more finesse hitters. | ||

Shortstop is a speed position that people play. They play between the third basemen and the second base. They are usually one of the best fielders on the team. | ![]() |

The catcher is a good fielder and a good thinker because he has to call every pitch that the pitcher throws. If he makes a bad call the game could be changed by a big hit. They play at the point of the diamond. They have to be able to throw people out is they steal. | |

The pitcher is the leader if he doesn't do good then the other probably will win. If he does good his team will do good. Pitchers are usually the worst hitters on the team. | ![]() |
