Even through the domestication of cats, they still retain many natural instincts such as:

Napping- Cats sleep a whole lot, up to three quarters of the day (and more if they are younger!).

Weaning- Up until kittens are three weeks old, they depend on their mothers to feed them with their milk.  They are not fully weaned at least two months of age.

Hunting- Kittens are born with natural instinct to hunt, but they have to learn certain skills.  Watching their mothers and other adult cats are how they learn.

Climbing- The claws on both paws and feet of cats make them very good and agile climbers.  Kittens learn this skill by the process of trial and error.

Seeing in the dark- A special layer of cells behind the retina in the cat's eyes (called tepetum lucidum) allow cats the ability to see in the dark.  The special cells magnify light and that's why cats eyes seem to glow in darkness.

Scent Marking- Male cats who haven't been neutered spray their territory to mark it.  Also, if they scratch or rub against things it marks them.
