The first game played by the Steelers at Heinz Field was on Sunday October 7th. The Steelers ended up with a 16-7 win against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers now call Heinz Field home, after the imploding of Three Rivers Stadium. |

Three Rivers Stadium was home to the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The stadium would have to be rearranged for the sport being played, whether it was football or baseball. In 2001, Three Rivers Stadium was imploded, and two stadiums were built. Heinz Field for the Steelers and PNC Park for the Pirates. Also now, the Pittsburgh Panthers football team plays at Heinz Field too. |

Heinz Field was partially paid for by Heinz. At the open end of the field facing the river, there is a giant "Jumbotron" made by Sony. Above the screen are two giant Ketchup bottles. Every time the Steelers score from the "Heinz" red zone (which is inside the 20 yard line) the ketchup bottles "pour" ketchup onto the screen. Also certain sections and rows get free hot dogs compliments of Heinz. |
