The game of tennis can be as basic or complex as you make it. Tennis is consisted of singles, doubles, and the different strokes used for playing. In order to play accurately, tennis players need to know how to correctly do the different strokes and carry on a game. First, there are different shots/strokes that are used in the game of tennis. Backhand and forehand are two ground strokes that are commonly used. Backhand is the shot used when the ball comes on the left side of the court, (for lefties the opposite). You use two hands to perform the stroke. Roger Federer is doing the backhand in the photograph.                                         Forehand, the other common ground stroke is done the opposite of the backhand. Also, forehand is done with only one hand instead of two on the grip. There are tons of other shots in tennis such as the volley and the smash. As you get working into the sport of tennis these strokes will become more natural.
Singles is one version of playing tennis. In singles there are to players that go against each other. It is quite self-explanatory why singles is called singles. It is because each player plays independently against each other. In singles, and most all tennis games, the opponent has to win by two points. If the players are tied, in the end they must play a tiebreaker. A tiebreaker is played first to seven points. If you win the tiebreaker you win the game. There are six games in a set. The doubles alleys are out of bounds in a singles match. In singles it is important to use control and placement.
For doubles, there are teams made up of two people. In all, four people play on the court. Mixed doubles is when a man and a woman team up to play against another team of a man and a woman. Mixed doubles is very common in tennis. In doubles, many different strategies are made. When the server serves and the ball goes into the net that is considered a fault. He serves two faults in a row and that is called a double fault. If he gets a double fault, the other team gets a point and he switches to serving on the other side, (either advantage or duce). The same thing goes with singles. However, singles is played independently.
