Find the best maple tree, and cut it
down. After you have cut it down, strip it of its bark. |
|
After you have stripped the log of its bark,
cut the log into thin veneers. When you are making the veneers, make
sure that you make them into seven ply veneers. |
|
After making the logs into seven ply veneers,
they need to be laminated. This will prevent some damage while going
through the other steps. |
|
Next, add adhesive to the veneers, so they
will stick while going through the gluing process. While the adhesive,
still has its effect on the veneers, put it through a gluing machine to
glue the veneers together. This will prevent the board from falling
apart, when it is ready. |
|
Next, put the glued veneers through a
hydraulic press. This will make sure the boards are firmly stuck
together. It will squeeze the veneers together, and pack them together.
This will also make your deck thick for grinding rails, and form the
nose, tail, and center of your board. |
|
When the veneers come out of the hydraulic
press, let them dry. Once they are completely dry, they are ready to be
cut and drilled. You must cut them with a band saw. Cut the veneers into
the shape that you would like your board to be. Once you have done that,
your board is ready to be drilled for mounting the trucks. |
|
Now that you have your blank deck, grab a
drill for the nose and tail. Find the nose of your board, and go about
5-6 inches out of it. Then drill four holes that are spaced about an
inch apart, also, have them form a square. After you are done with the
nose, do the same thing with the tail. |
|
Now you board is almost ready. Now you have to
hand sand the entire board, from nose to tail. Make it smooth, and make
sure that you get around the glued areas where the glue has dried. Next

Next spray your board with a sealant for the
graphics. |
|
Now you board can have graphics added to it.
First you must print out the graphics, by hand. |
|
Then add one color at a time to the board. |
|
Rack it to dry. |
 |
Now your board is nearing completion. First
put your grip tape onto the board, then mount your trucks onto the
board. Now add the bearings to your wheels, and mount the wheels, onto
the trucks. Congratulations, your board is finished! |
