The game of volleyball originated in 1895. It originated in the united states The man who invented it was named William G. Morgan.  It said to be he invented it from a combination of many different sports. Mr. Morgan was the head of the YMCA at the time he invented volleyball. He wanted a sport that wasn't very rough but still had lots of competition to it. William G. Morgan also invented the volleyball. In 1908 Volleyball spread to Cuba and many other Spanish and Mexican countries. The name Volleyball came about after a demonstration game of the sport, when a spectator. People commented that the game involved much "volleying" and game was renamed Volleyball. We know have Mr. Morgan for inventing this wonderful exciting sport.

When trying to find a ball to use in volleyball Mr. Morgan tried using tennis balls and basketballs

In 1916, in the Philippines, an offensive style of passing the ball in a high trajectory to be struck by another player (the set and spike) were introduced.

The first volleyball cost about $2 now they cost around $18-20

In 1995 volleyball turned 100 years old!

In 1985 U.S. men's volleyball team won the gold and women's won silver.

In 1996 2-person was added to the Olympics 

In 1964 it was added as an Olympic sport
