In volleyball, if you aren't in the right position it'll cost your team a point. When the ball is about to be served, the payers must take up all positions. After the ball crosses the net, they may anywhere on their side of the court.
If there are any positional error causes a fault, the offenders loose all their points scored while at error. The opponents retain all their points. The main position must be resumed when a positional error is spotted. On the change of service, members of the team that is about to serve must rotate one position clockwise before they decide to serve.
The order of a teams rotation must remain constant in each set; it can be changed for a new set if you inform the scorer. There are many things you need to know about playing the ball. Each team is able to touch the ball up to three times before hitting it over the net. Contact is allowed just as long as it's above the waist area and they are clean hits.
The ball is to allowed to be held, carried, or scooped in any way. If two or more of your teams players touch the ball at the same time it counts as two touches, unless its blocking. The ball can be played while the players is in contact with a teammate as long as he isn't using him as a prop. If two teammates go for the ball but only one player touched it, its only counted as one touch. A hit (except in service) is good only if the ball touches the net between the markers on the side and drops in court. The ball is out of play if it hits an area out of court.
There are many ways to serve the ball. One way to serve the ball is called the overhand serve. This is when you toss the ball up and hits it with the opposite hand. Another serve is called the underhand serve. To do this you have to hold the ball, step forward with your opposite foot that your holding the ball with and follow through and hit it from underneath. The last serve is a jump serve. You have to throw the ball up and in front of you and then run and hit it above your head.
