Volleyball is a fun sport but there are many things you'll need to know but before starting. There are many surfaces but world competitions use synthetic or wooden surfaces. The playing court measures 59x30ft. It's surrounded by a symmetrical rectangular free zone. It has to be a minimum of 10ft wide and a height of 23ft above the playing surface and it must be free from all obstruction. 
On the court, there must be a net to separate both sides of the court. A men's net is 31feet long,3 feet wide, and 8ft high. A women's net is 31feet long, 3ft high, and 7feet and 4inches high. On the net there are 10cm square black mesh and a 5cm strip of white canvas across the top. Also, there are 2 flexible vertical antennas are fastened to the outer edge of each side band to mark the boundaries of where the ball must fall.
To hold up the net you'll need 2 round post with a height of 8ft. It need to be fixed to the ground with a distance of 1 and a half- 3ft distance from each other. When you play, the temperature should never be below 61 degree's Fahrenheit and no higher than 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, the light must be between 1,000 and 1,550 lux.  Most people play with light, pliable shoes without heels.
If you get an officials permission you can play barefoot. When you play you wear shoes, shirts, and shorts. If your on a team you'll usually wear the same colors. The shirts must be numbered one to eighteen. On the front your number is smaller and is usually in the upper corner. On the back of the shirt its bigger and usually is in the middle.
