Over the years, Bowling balls have been made out of different materials.  In the 1960’s, hard rubber balls were king.  Polyester balls came on the scene in the 1970’s.  The 1980’s saw the dawning of the urethane balls.  Then in the 1990’s the introduction of reactive urethane balls were prevalent.  Today, we have the proactive urethane ball, which give it a “fuzzy” feel, and improves traction.  With increasing scientific knowledge, no one knows what balls will be made out of in the future.
There are a variety of bowling ball styles to choose from.  Most of their names deal with power, personality traits, or destruction.  For example, some balls that have powerful names are Hammer, Monster Slayer, Fear Factor, Raging Inferno, and Top Fuel.  For personality traits, some examples are, Alter Ego, Wired, Obsession, and Killer Instinct.  Some destructive names are Cherry Bomb, Goliath, Shock, Super Sonic, and The Bully.
