Cross country requires more than the ability to jump well. Confidence and courage are needed in horse and rider in order to tackle the wide range of obstacles that are thrown at them. Jumps are sited in awkward positions. At the top and bottom of steep hills, going uphill or downhill. |

There are many different types of jumps. There are bounce fences this is when a combination fence. Where there is no non jumping stride between the elements. Corner fences are jumps that have a point out to the side. There's water fences which are fences commonly featured on cross-country courses. Clothing in cross-country is also a very important part. In cross-country your expected to wear field boots, jodhpurs, white shirt, jacket, and helmet. Wearing these clothes will show the judges you care about your appearance. | ![]() |
