Fender was started by Clarence Leo Fender.  He began making amplifiers and Hawaiian Style Guitars.

In 1945 he began making guitars for country musicians.  Since the guitar was so popular he put it out on the market.  He put it on just before his competitor Les Paul put his guitar out.
His first guitar was the Broadcaster.  But in 1950 it was renamed the Telecaster.   It was completely new with a neck bolted on to a solid body.

Although the Telecaster is great most people prefer its predecessor the Stratocaster.   It first hit the market in 1954.  It was like a Telecaster with a bolt on neck but the body is different
In 1951 Fender created the first bass guitar.  The precision or P bass was designed so bass players could have smaller instruments than the giant up right bass.

A few years later Fender created a new bass.  The bass they created was the Jazz bass.
The original Fender legacy sadly came to in end in 1964 when Clarence Leo Fender sold the company.  Through the years Fender has been sold many times, made in many countries like Vietnam, Mexico and Korea and is now going strong.

This is Fender's original guitar the Telecaster.  It has dual humbuckers and a strong maple neck
This guitar is the Stratocaster.  It has 3 SCN pickups.  It also has a gold tremolo and a whammy bar.

This is the Precision bass.  It has split coli pickups and an alder body.
This is the Jazz bass.  It has 2 jazz pickups and a rose wood fretboard.

This is Eric Clapton's signature Strat.  It has vintage noiseless pickups an alder body and a v neck.
This is Stevie Ray Vaughn's Lenny.  It has three single coil pickups.  This guitar is priceless because it was played by a legend.
