| The band Led Zeppelin started out with the name the New Yardbirds. Jimmy Page was originally in the Yardbirds, but that band broke up. They still had concerts to play, so Jimmy took matters into his own hands. He set out with Chris Dreja, the bass player of The Yardbirds, to assemble the band. They first heard Robert Plant sing, and right away they knew he was the vocalist they were looking for. Next they picked up John Bohnam. Later on, Chris Dreja dropped out. Jimmy Page then picked up John Baldwin, now known as John Paul Jones. Now that they formed a band, they needed a name. Kieth Moon of The Who said that they would drop like a Led Zeppelin. | ||||
| Their first concerts were in 1969. Those were the ones they had to fill for The Yardbirds. They released their first album, called Led Zeppelin I., and then came to the U.S.A. They used the radio to showcase their music, and by the time they came to the states, it was already popular. They came to the U.S. in 1969. | ||||
