Marsh deer have a red-brown or brown coat. They are between43 and 47 inches high at the shoulder. An adult marsh deer weighs from 154 to 242 pounds. The coat is lighter on the belly and throat. The marsh deer's muzzle, lower legs, and the underside of its tail are black. It's hooves are wide spayed to allow it to walk on soft ground.
   Marsh deer eat a diet of aquatic plants, grasses, and reeds. Marsh deer are active during the night. During the day they hide in dense bushes. They normally live alone or in small herds composed of a mature buck, one or two doe, and their fawns.
   They may be able to breed anytime of the year. The doe carries the fawn for 255 to 271 days. Marsh deer fawns don't have spots. They are found in Central South America. They don't exist anywhere else. They are a vulnerable species, which means that they could become a threatened species soon. They prefer wet habitats, like marshes, floodplains, riverbanks, and other wetlands.
  The bucks antlers are a dark yellow color, about 24 inches long. They have 4 to 5 points on each antler. The antlers can weigh up to 5.5 pounds each!! The antlers can stay attached for almost 2 years. The doe has 1 single fawn. They enter water frequently, but prefer water less than 2 feet deep.
