Referees Referees are the peace keepers of soccer. If the see a foul, the blow their whistle and call it. In a game there are three refs. Two of them are sideline referees and one is the center referee. The center ref has a whistle and calls the fouls. The sideline referees run up and down the sidelines signaling for the center referee to call a foul. |

Offsides Offsides is called when a player that is involved in the play is between the last defender and the goal when the ball is kicked. a side line referee will call the offisides by raising his flag straight up in the air. A player is not offisides on a throw-in, corner kick or a goal kick. |

Throw-Ins A throw-in occurs when a team kicks the ball completely over one of the sidelines. The sideline ref signals to the center referee whose throw-in it is. The throw-in goes to the team that did not touch it last before it went out. |

FreeKicks A freekick is one of the ways used to start play after a foul or misconduct. There are two types of freekicks, Direct and Indirect kicks. You can score a goal on a direct kick even if no one touches the ball before it goes in. You cannot score a goal off of an indirect kick unless somebody besides the kicker touches it before it goes into the goal. All players from the opposing team must remain 10 yards away from the ball until it is first touched. |

Penalty Kicks A penalty kick or PK is signaled, only if the defender commits a direct freekick foul in his or her own team's penalty area. The ball is then put on the penalty mark and everyone but the kicker and the keeper must be outside the penalty area, behind the ball. The goalkeeper can move side to side on the goal line but cannot move forward until the ball is kicked. None of the other players can move into the penalty area before the ball is kicked. |

Goal Kicks A goal kick happens when the ball crosses over the goal line last touched by an attacking player. The ball can be placed anywhere inside the goal area or the six yard box. The ball is in play when it leaves the penalty area or the 18 yard box. All opponents must stay outside of the penalty area until the ball is put into play. No one can touch the ball until it leaves the penalty area. A goal can be scored directly on a goal kick but only against the opposing team. |

Corner Kicks A corner kick is awarded when ever the ball crosses the goal line, last touched by a defending player. The ball then can be placed anywhere inside the corner arc the ball is in play as soon as it is kicked but before that defenders must be ten yards away until the ball is in play. A goal can be scored directly off of a corner kick |
