The whole rollerblading thing all came together in 1760, when Joseph Merlin put wooden spools to soles of shoes.  This invention did not work as well as planned and was never worked on again.  In 1863, James L. Plimpton made inline skates for a character in his opera.  When inline skates were made for a sport, it was made as a combination of ice skating and roller skating.  Roller skates have two wheels in the front under the toes, and in the back of the boot, under the heel.
	Inline skates had the wheels from roller skates but were arranged like they were ice skates all aligned in a row.  In the 1990's, the aggressive inline league became a new organized sport.  During the 1990's, inline skating was a huge hit that everybody wanted to do.
		People were buying equipment and getting bruises during this period.  All of the sport stores were making a lot of money off of skates, helmets, elbow pads, and wrist guards.
