There are two types of skating styles to do in competitions, there is vert, which is done on a half pipe, and there is street, which is done on the streets on ledges and rails. It can also be done in a park on an arrangement of jumps, ramps, rails and ledges. | ||||

| The ASA is a competition for professionals and amateurs. It gives the amateurs the chance to become a professional. There is also the IMYTA competition. This competition is only for street skaters. | ||||

| Whenever the judges are watching the street competitions, they are looking for many things in the skater's run. They are looking for the use of the whole coarse, creativity, technical stunts, and absolutely no falling. | ![]() |

| When the judges are watching the vert competitions, they are looking high amplitudes, creativity, technical stunts, use of coping, which is the rail at the top of the half pipe, and absolutely no falling. So if they are getting high scores, they will be doing the things listed above. | ![]() |
