Honus Wagner was born on February twenty fourth in 1874 in Chartiers Valley Pennsylvania. He said since that day he has always loved baseball and he always will. |

Over Honus' career he has played for only two teams. He first played for the Louisville Colonials and then he took a trip to Pittsburgh to play for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He succeeded with both teams but his best seasons came with the pirates. "The flying dutchman" was introduced into the hall of fame in 1936 with 215 votes out of 226 ballotts which is a 93.13% vote from the voters. |

Honus through his hall of fame career had great stats. He had a career batting average of an incredible .329. Also Honus is the only player in the history of the game to bat over .300 in over seventeen straight seasons. He stole seven hundred and twenty-two bases and hit one hundred and one homeruns during his hall of fame career. |

During Honus' childhood he would often play a game compared to baseball. He would often throw the ball up into the air and hit it with his hand and pretend to run and slide like the athletes. He claims that that is where he really fell in love with baseball. |

Honus grew up only about 25 miles from here in Chartiers Valley Pennsylvania. He was very popular and had many friends and had a good childhood but was sometimes teased for being "fat" but fast. He would often get into trouble for fighting people for teasing him about his weight. As you can see Honus slimmed down when he came inot his professional career |
