The Loch Ness Lake is located in Scotland. It's 24 km. long, 1.6 km wide and 754 feet deep. Its surrounded by large castles and other interesting land marks. It is a great vacation spot. It also is believed to host the Loch Ness Monster!  But is there a possibility that there is a giant monster hiding inside it? It is possible. Although the loch ness lake is very large, is it possible for a giant see animal to be living inside of it? Although unlikely, there are so many photos and story sightings that there is a possibility.

The Loch Ness monster is said to be large and dinosaur like. It's even suggested that Nessie is a survivor of a prehistoric animal! This is very possible because many animals such as crocodiles and cockroaches survived this time period as well.  Nessie is also considered to be an invertebrate, or an animal with no spine. The lock ness monster has a large, long neck It has flippers and a long tail. Nessie is said to have similar skin as a seal. It also has a small head.

In 1933 a woman saw a large mass on the beach. It had three humps on its back and was walking like a seal. She reported her sighting to the police. Many sightings have been seen in the Loch ness lake.

Another story is a man saw a large gray animal swim into the lake from on the beach. He said that the monsters tail looked allot like its head so it saw difficult to tell if it was swimming in backwards or not. The residence that live near the Loch Ness used to be afraid that if they said anything about the monster that people from around the world would think that they were weird. So they didn't talk about Nessie until the sightings got out of hand.

The loch ness monster could just be a boat. This although is extremely unlikely. Some scientists believe that Nessie is a giant squid or another animal. During the 1930's many scientists believed that Nessie was just tectonic plates shifting below the Loch Ness's surface. They thought that bubbles were rising from the opening of the plates creating what looked like the three humps of Nessie.

It even could be vegetation from the bottom of the giant lake. This theory has been disproved because there is very little vegetation at the bottom of the lake.

Perhaps the most famous hoax of all time was a native of Loch Ness who took a toy boat and taped it to a dinosaurs toy head. He floated it into the rived and took pictures of it. Because the head was so small it looked like the monster was far out into the river.

Actually the toy was close to him! He brought the pictures in and fooled every one! He later addmitted to the hoax and said that it was him. This made scientists to beleive that there were other hoaxes out that that people did.

People who study the Loch Ness monster use sonogram type machines to try to locate it. They usually get pictures of what appears to be a giant dinosaur like animal.

They take submarines and then then record for sound. They do get some records of the beast trough sound waves. One submarine even said that it got a skin sample of Nessie! Weather this is true or not, people today still believe that there is a monster in the Loch Ness Lake.
