Even though a lot of people are into gymnastics , only a select few are talented enough to compete nationally or even go to the Olympics. In the 1960's and 1970's Nadia Comaneci and Olga Korbut were the best gymnasts around. They were even getting perfect 10's on some events and the audience loved them. Juliana McNamara was the first American woman to score a perfect 10 in the Olympic uneven bars competition. That's when American gymnasts started to become more popular in the sport. Most gymnasts in the 60's were from Romania or Russia such as Nadia and Olga, but as time went on American gymnasts and many other nationalities started showing their talent. Today the US Olympic team is very good. Carly Patterson brought home the gold in the 2004 Olympic Games which took place in Athens, Greece. She is an amazing gymnast and she definitely deserved the gold. Courtney Kupets who is also on the US team is also very talented and came pretty close to beating Carly. Those are just some of the famous gymnasts from though out the years, but many others have accomplished a ton in gymnastics. |  |
