Women's gymnastics has four events. Each are equally challenging and really fun to watch and perform. Vault is an event where the gymnast runs down the spring floor , jumps into the air, pushes off the vault (which is basically just a big padded block with two legs that is elevated off the ground) , does a trick, and sticks it (lands it without falling or stumbling). The uneven parallel bars is an event where the gymnast swings continuously and does tricks on two bars that are next to each other, but one is higher than the other. Balance beam is where a gymnast does a minute and a half long routine on a 4 inch wide, 16 foot long beam made of either wood or aluminum and is covered with suede. The hard part is keeping your balance. Floor Exercise is an event where the gymnast does a routine that consists of balance of tumbling and dance. The routine should be no longer than one minute and thirty seconds and is to a song. Rhythmic gymnastics isn't really an event, but some gymnasts do it. That is where a gymnast does a floor exercise to the beat of a song with a baton or a ball. Scoring these events is very important. The perfect score is a ten. Most good gymnasts get between an 8 and a 10 on most events.
