In 1999 the Pennsylvania State Legislature approved funding for stadiums in both Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. The new Pittsburgh stadium would be state of the art. It would have natural grass, 129 luxury suites and 6,500 club seats, it would also have a playing field which is designed to resist freezing even in Pittsburgh's weather. | ![]() |

Thirty-five miles of tubing containing an automatic heating system. It would lie just beneath the surface and keep the temperature at field level at sixty-two degrees. The stadium is made out of 13,500 tons of structural steel, 23,000 bolts, 48,000 cubic yards of concrete, 30,000 gallons of paint all in a course of 26 months. | ![]() |

The new Heinz Field has held held many events and tributes before the game and at halftime. One tribute was to former Steeler stars such as Franco Harris and Lynn Swann along with a few others. Also the Pittsburgh Panthers use Heinz Feild as there home field. | ![]() |

One of the best features at Heinz Field is the great hall where people pay tribute to the Steelers of the past. You can find lockers, shoes, and helmets from players of the past. It is one of the best places to go at the game other than your seat. | ![]() |
