One day a man from England was playing soccer on a normal day in the 19th century. He bored of just kicking a ball and not being aloud to use his hands. So he decided to pick up the soccer ball and run around with it. This obviously broke the rules but all the other guys thought it was a pretty good idea. For the time-being they called it  "Rugby."  This sport actually was good enough to travel over to the United States of America. The ball changed from a circular shape to an egg shaped ball made of pigskin. Over the years the sport became popular and some colleges started to play it. The name was changed to football. This game was very similar to modern rugby but a man from Yale named walter Camp convinced the Intergollegiate Football Association (IFA) to change the rules. That started the game of football and rules are still changing today. The modern  game of football started around 1880.
Soon profesional organizations began and the first football teams were born. This organization was called the National Football League (NFL). The National Football League or NFl changed the rules as the game went on. Football became more popular off of games played by the Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Tigers, and New York Giants.

Two divisions were made which were the American Football League (AFL), and the National Football Conference (NFC). The first superbowl was in 1933. The Greenbay Packers and the Kansas City Cheifs. The Packers won and Bart Starr was the quarterback, Max Mcgee was playing at wide reciever, and Willie Wood was located at Safety.
Football has gotten a lot more protective and advanced over the years. The football equipment of today consists of a helmut, shoulder pads, pants, hip pads, tail pad, thigh pads, knee pads, a girdle and a jersey. Mouthgaurds are usually used too.
