William Bailey, born in 1962 in Lafeyette, Indiana, USA, started singing at age 5 in a local church choir.  That was not enough.  He soon became interested in louder, faster rock.  In 1984 he teamed up with a like-minded guitarist named Jeffrey Isbell in Los Angeles.  These two decided to form a band.  First item on the list was stage names, William and Jeffrey just would not do... Bailey became Axl Rose, and Jeffrey became Izzy Stradlin.  With Tacii Guns on lead guitar and Rob Gardner on drums and percussion, they needed a band name.  First it was Hollywood Rose, then the L.A. Guns.  Neither seemed quite right.  Guns and Gardner left, but Steven Adler joined on drums along with guitarist Saul Hudson who was nick named Slash.  They became Guns N' Roses with Duff McKagan on bass.  They released hit album Appetite for Destruction and were on top.  Sadly, Steven was out because of his alcohol dependency, Matt Sorum was in.  They soon had hits like "Sweet Child of Mine," and "Paradise City."
