HISTORY

The Golden Retriever was founded in the country of Russia.  There, they were known as "Russian Circus Dogs."  After the Crimean War, the breeds popularity increased.  The breed spread all over.  From Scotland, to Great Britain, to France and so on.  They only made it to the United States in 1930, which was almost 530 years after the breed was founded.  Now, they are one of the United States of America's most well-known dogs.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

The proud Golden Retriever is a beautiful dog.  With a golden coat, and big brown eyes, there is NO WAY you'll be able to resist their cuteness.  They can grow to be as big as 160 pounds or be as little as 80 pounds.  They have big bushy tails, and a big, black, wet nose. People have described Golden Retrievers as "lions" with their full body of fur, and their color. Whenever they give you their "puppy eyes," your heart will melt.

GROOMING

Since the Golden Retriever is a hunting dog, their hair gets knotted easily.  If you brush it everyday, their fur will stay smooth and soft.  Since the Golden Retriever has so much fur, some owners like a fuller look.  When owners use them to hunt, they have to keep there hair as short as possible to avoid getting burrs and thorns caught in their coats.  They should be washed whenever needed, and they should be professionally groomed groomed up to 6 times a year.

PERSONALITY

You'll of course love their looks, but the thing that will pull you in are their personalities.  They are so loving and very friendly. They truly give the saying "man's best friend." its meaning.  With them being by your side, you'll feel very safe and protected.  You will become more attached to your Golden Retriever day after day.
