The minute you bring your Golden Retriever home, it is important to know if it is house trained. If not you must teach it. To punish your dog you can make it leave the room where people are. To stop it from chewing on things you can spray bitter apple sprays on the object.
You must get your retriever used to a collar and leash. If it is still young, you should put a thin choke-chain collar on to help train it. When it gets older you need a bigger, heavier chain. On the collar, you must have an identification tag which lists your address, name, and phone number.
Before you can attach the leash to the collar the dog must be used to it. A leash can be helpful to walk your dog, or to train it to stay, sit, heel, etc..
You must use specific food as the puppy ages. When shopping for food you can ask the seller what the best is for your golden retriever. It is important that your dog doesn't skip a meal
As your retriever grows it must get bigger portions of food. There are many different types of food for your dog to eat but once u choose one u have to stay with that food for awhile.
The dog needs to be fed everyday at least once or twice. It is important for your dog to eat and be healthy. It also needs to be supplied with water so it is never thirsty.
If your dog is not supplied with water it could be dehydrated. It needs water after a walk or running around and playing.
