The newest, most popular car trends out now is import tuners.  Import tuners are actually just cars that  are imported from other countries, mainly Japan, and brought to America. Where they are introduced to the amazing options companies have to offer.  There are just as many things to do to import tuners as there are for custom trucks and cars.  The only difference is that import tuners are mainly modified to help performance, hence the part of the name "tuner".  Most of the upgrades for tuners include things such as engine parts, exhaust, wheels and tires, spoilers, suspension, and overall exterior styling.

        There are an uncountable amount of parts in an engine that you can change to get better performance.  Some of the most common include putting in hood scoops and changing the intakes, so that more air can get into the engine, so that it has more power, putting different type of spark plugs in, so that the engine fires stronger, and boring out the engine in certain parts so that there isn't as much friction so the parts move faster.

         Exhaust is very important and this is one of the main differences from tuners and other cars.  Import tuners often have large mufflers producing distinguishing sound.  Exhaust can also help the engine work more efficiently.

        Wheels and tires are very important for the handling of the car.  Tires, more then wheels, effect the cars handling because most wheels are the same except for styling.  These are also some of the most expensive parts on the cars.  

        Spoilers are mainly for show on many cars but on others it holds the car on the ground so the power doesn't make it "fly away" into the air.

        Suspension gives the car stiffer springs making the cars easier to handle in turns.  Most are about the same just making the cars more stiff and race-like.

        Exterior styling mainly includes body kits.  This makes the car lower to the ground and makes it wider.  Paint is a big deal with theses cars and they usually use vinyl because the paint would be to crazy to try and make.  Much like the other types of custom vehicles not two cars look alike because people strive to be different and use their cars to showcase that.  Import tuners are not strictly use, in fact there are many tuner shows that show all the products available known rather then just already made cars.
