Love birds are small parrots between five to seven inches. Love birds have large bills with tails that are round or square. They live for ten to twelve years. The longest a love bird lived for was seventeen years and twenty-five years. There are many different types of Love birds. You can tell by the colors and the markings. Younger love birds colors are dull and there beaks are black.

 One Love bird will eat about one and a half ounces of food a daily. The food mix that they eat are seeds and grains which are generally suitable. They also eat fresh vegetables, greens and some fruits. You need to change there food and water once or twice a day. It also depends on your bird. Love birds love to take baths. You can put them in a flat plate bath or you can spray them lightly like a mist. They usual maintain there beaks and nails on there own by climbing or chewing.

 Love birds are very active birds. A cage that is big and that has a lot of space is good because they like to move and jump different areas in the cage. Also you should have one pair or three pairs because if you have two pairs there maybe fighting going with your birds over space. Since love birds are very active you should have lots of toys and perches for them to exercise. The branches or perches should be about one and a half inches thick. Toys for your bird depends on what your bird like. Make sure any toy you give to your bird is safe. You should clean your birds cage once a week and its water to. 

 Love birds are social animals. It is said if they are kept in pairs they will have a better health and be happy. If you have a single love bird you need to make sure you pay a lot of  attention. love birds can get very aggressive to each other. If you have a pair for your bird you should make sure that they are a truly a good match. A pair if love birds should clean each other and feed each other.

 When you try to tame your love bird you should start when they are young because they are easier to teach them new tricks and keep then behaved. when they get older its harder to train and they are very stubborn. When training you need to have patience. Also your bird needs to trust you. you need to spend time with your bird. Also you should talk softly and make slow movements. Love birds can talk ,but not many words.

  Signs of illness you should look at if your bird is not itself. Your birds feathers are ruffled and plumage is dull, sits with their eyes closed, watery or dull eyes, runny nose, sleeps a lot. Also droppings may change colors. The dropping colors are a grayish and white color and they are not thin.
