Description

   These beautiful green birds are medium to large in size and have a some what of a round tail. There are different types of Amazon birds. They beautiful splashes of colors you see on their heads, napes, necks, wings, and tail feathers. The colors are reds and yellows to blues and lilacs. To tell if its a male or a female you can get a DNA test done .

Care/Feeding

   Amazons like to take a weekly shower to help keep the plumage clean. You can spray them with worm water. You should keep their wings trimmed if you do not want them to fly. You should also trim their claws if the get to sharp. Their diet contain basic parrot feed mix. Apples, pears, plums, cherries, grapes, oranges, bananas, and berries. Do Not feed your bird avocados. 

Housing 

    You should give your bird lots of ceiling height and room for its tail. Also so your bird can move around. Inside the cage you should have rope for them to climb on , bells, parrot swings, and wooden or other toys. You should put newspaper at the bottom of the cage for it waste and extra food. You should also change his cage once a week and clean its cage.

Social Behaviors 

  Amazon parrots are calm and peaceful in the mornings and evenings when its starts getting dark. These birds are wonderful pets but they need to get plenty of attention. Amazon and children mix very successful. The children can interact one another. You have to watch your bird can get jealous of small children. So you should watch your bird at the same time. Amazons also can get along with other pet once they accept each other.
