The Denver Broncos have been AFC Champions six times since joining the NFL in 1970.  Obviously, this means they have been to Super Bowl six times.  Most recently, was in 1998, when they faced the Atlanta Falcons.  Believe it or not, their record in the Super Bowl is only 2-4.

They reached their first Super Bowl on January 15th, 1978.  It was Super Bowl XII.  Craig Mortenson, was the Broncos quarterback at the time.  The game took place in New Orleans.  They faced the heavily favored Dallas Cowboys.  Unfortunately, the Cowboys didn't disappoint anyone and destroyed the Broncos 27-10.  The Broncos would get another chance in the Super Bowl nine years later.  They faced the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXI.  Although they were tied they were tied 10-10 at half-time the Giants took control in the second half and won 39-20.  The Broncos advanced to the Super Bowl the year after to face the Washington Redskins.  The Broncos scored the first ten points of the game, but the Redskins closed the game by scoring forty-two unanswered points and winning 42-10.  Two years later the Broncos woes continued in Super Bowl XXIV, as the San Francisco 49ers demolished the Broncos 55-10.  It was the most lopsided Super Bowl in NFL history.

The Broncos headed into the 1997 season as a favorite to win the AFC.  They exploded onto the scene winning their first six games.  They finished the season with a 12-4 record and earned a spot in the playoffs.  After beating Jacksonville at home, 42-17, they advanced to play the Kansas City Chiefs.  They played at Arrowhead Stadium, in freezing conditions.  The game went down to the last play, but the Broncos were able to hold onto a 14-10 win.  They advanced to the AFC Championship for the fifth time to play the heavily favored Pittsburgh Steelers.  Somehow the Broncos slowed the Steeler's offense and Kordell Stewart and won by three points, 24-21.  They advanced to Super Bowl XXXII as huge underdogs, facing the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Green Bay Packers.  The game went back and forth, one team would score, an than another.  Late in the fourth quarter, score tied at twenty-four apiece, Denver had the ball inside the Packer's ten yard line.  On second and goal, Terrell Davis scored on a two yard run.  It was his third of the game and a new playoff record.  The Broncos were able to hold onto the lead and win their first Super Bowl ever, 31-24.

The Broncos advanced to Super Bowl XXXIII with a 14-2 regular season record.  They were the favorites and easily pranced there way through the playoffs.  They faced the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl.  The Broncos didn't disappoint as the destroyed the Falcons 34-19.  They were the fifth team in NFL history to win back to back Super Bowls (97' and 98' seasons)
