The Denver Broncos were founded on August 14, 1959, as a member of the AFL. Their first season was in 1960. On the first game their attendance was less than 19,000. While they were in the AFL they managed a record of 39-97-4. They joined the NFL when they AFL and NFL merged in 1970. After joining the NFL they've had a record of 316-227-6. Amazingly, their first winning season did not occur until 1973. Today they average over 70,000 people per game and have been to six Super Bowls as of April 2004. |

The Denver Broncos have had twelve different uniforms, not including alternative uniforms. The original uniforms were seal brown and light gold. They had their numbers on their helmets. Three years later, in1963, they started using orange in their uniforms for the first time. In 1965, the blue was introduced to the uniforms. Then in 1968, they began to make their helmets blue. Although their uniforms have changed several times through the years, it wasn't until 1997 when they got navy blue uniforms with orange stripes. You can see from this picture below how their uniforms have changed. |

The Denver Broncos have had three stadiums in their history. The Broncos first stadium in the NFL was built in 1948 for the Denver Bears, but the Broncos purchased it in 1970 before entering the NFL. Their stadium was called Mile High Stadium. Its seats were blue and orange to show team spirit. The pictures on the left are of Mile High Stadium. The picture on the right is from the first game at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium. Both of their stadiums claim that they are a mile above sea level, but they aren't. They use this as an intimidation factor for their opponents. The Broncos have sold out every home game since the start of the 1970 season. The picture in the middle is the Broncos' mascot, Thunder. |
