vault consists of a runway, a spring board, a horse, and a mat or foam
pit, and it’s the opening piece at every gymnastics competition. |

The
original modern horse is about 5 feet and 63 centimeters long, and the
bottom legs are adjustable. The spring board is about 3 feet 7 inches
long. |

In
every vault there are 6 phases that every gymnast should understand. These
phases are:
- 1.)The run
- 2.)The take off
- 3.)First flight
- 4.)Support position
- 5.)Second flight
- 6.)The landing

The
uneven parallel bars consist of 2 wooden bars, a low and a high. |

|
In
routines, gymnasts are required to connect various skills on both bars,
and perform a dismount off of the high bar. |

Kips
are the most important skill on the uneven parallel bars. Most often, they
are the necessary to perform mounts, and connect skills on the high bar. A
kip is one of the hardest skills to learn on this event. |

Vault
and bars are 2 of the 4 events in this sport, and they are the 1st
2 events in the Olympic order of competition. These events show the
strength needed to become successful in the sport of gymnastics, and they
take many years to master.
