Because eating bad foods is the biggest cause of tooth decay and gum disease, it's important to eat right.  You should eat mostly organic food that hasn't been refined or processed, and has little or no additives.  When considering what foods to avoid, you should always use common sense, but I have a short list of bad foods that promote easy tooth decay.

1. White Sugar

White sugar is just about the worst food to eat a lot of.  White sugar, in any form or mixed with anything, is small enough that germs have very little breaking down to do and it takes them a short time to start eating away at the enamel of the teeth.

3. Preservatives

Most canned and packaged goods are full of preservatives.  Like anything, too much can damage you and your teeth.

2. White bread

White bread or anything made from white flour is bad, because it will stick in your teeth and will provide wonderful food for germs.  As a substitute, you should look for bread with whole grains.

 4. Salt

Most foods are salted enough, so there is normally no need for this anyway; it causes problems to more than just your teeth.  Most everyone knows the damage it can do to your heart and body.

5. Too much meat

Meat is needed for protein, but it is usually much too salty and fatty to be good for your mouth.  Try eating nuts, peanut butter, or eggs as a substitute.  There are plenty of sources for protein besides meat.
