The 80's was a bleak time for the Mustang, in the 80's it looked more like my mom's car than a Mustang. But the poor design and only and 88hp engine was a visual effect of the downsized fuel economy on cars of the 80's. Luckily the economy raised 23%, and Ford was rebuilding it's empire. This rebuilding process took some time and continued well into the 90's.
